ABOUT COUNSELLING
Counselling is one of the talking therapies where you
can share your distress and gives us an opportunity to reflect
together on the difficulties you are experiencing. Counselling can
offer you the potential to be creative in finding new ways of
relating which involves change. This may be challenging but can
ultimately lead to a more satisfying life. The sessions also offer
an opportunity to reflect on how past relationships and experiences
have affected your present problems.
I see my role as trying to understand things from
your perspective. To this end, I try to offer a space in which we
can work together to build up a relationship of trust to allow you
to ventilate any thoughts or feelings. The sessions, which can be
short-term or open-ended, are non-judgemental and confidential.
At the first appointment I will ask you to tell me about yourself,
and the worries you are experiencing. This session will give us an
opportunity to decide whether we can work together and whether you
feel my approach to counselling meets your needs. If you decide to
continue working with me, we will agree on a time to meet weekly.
These sessions will be 50 minutes long. The pace of the work will be
determined by you.
